I have written and directed a 6-episode web series called “Delivery”, scheduled to be released this fall. Synopsis below:
————–

George hates his job. Wishing for the life of cooking great cuisine, George’s food delivery job is anything but “the dream”. It’s more like a canal-sized rut only to be filled with his dead body. But that’s being dramatic. The reality is, this is just a boring, dead-end job that teases bill collectors with its minimum wage. But it can’t be that boring of a job. You’re meeting new people every time you knock on the door. Surely, some of those people have to be funny, charming, or somewhat interesting? That could be the case. Or they could all be kinda nuts.

“Delivery” is a 6-episode short comedy series featuring the exchange of money for goods between George and his customers in one late night shift. At least that’s the goal. Honestly, some of these people have more on their mind than paying the pizza boy. Some are hiding creepy secrets and spare change in pinatas, or disposing of people for improper grammer, even solving issues of infidelity with soured sex toys. And sadly for George, bat shit crazy doesn’t always tip.

————–
Currently, we’re running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of “Delivery”. We’re looking to raise $1,500, a modest goal, to cover the costs of production. I can promise you that this is some of the funniest material I’ve written, and the final product will be brisk, weird, and quite humorous. I think many people will enjoy it.

We could really use your help. Any donation would help cover the costs of this exciting production. Donations can be made here.

6 years ago, my good friend Al Levine and I wanted to create a funny take on the best video game you could play while in your elementary classroom, Oregon Trail. For one reason or another, we never got around to it. And it’s probably a good thing. We sucked back then.

Today, the actual faux trailer has been released, courtesy of Al’s Half Day Today. It was written by myself, then continued by another good friend, Nick Reczynski when logistics made it pretty difficult for me to direct it. I have many other friends involved in this project, as well as a web series we just shot together, coming in Sept. All of these people are awesome.

I’m very happy to see this completed. Now watch it and enjoy it with us.

UPDATE
Well that was quick. Oregon Trail has been all over the internet and back. I’ll put a full list up tomorrow, but this video has surfaced of our trailer being shown on G4′s Attack of the Show
I’d like to announce that I have been added to the roster of directors for Spoa in Paris, France. They represent me in the European market for commercial and music video production.

At the moment, they represent myself as an individual. Soon, they shall represent Louis Gruber, frequent collaborator on my spec work, and myself under our directing duo alias, Klue. I’ll talk more about Klue in a future post, but needless to say, this is exciting news for both Lou and myself. We’re thrilled to be represented by Spoa, and look forward to making more ambitious work as our voice grows and improves.

For now, we’re continuing to build our spec work. We aim to have a showreel out for Klue by the fall. Representation through Spoa is non-exclusive, so if you are interested in talking with either me as an individual, or the collaboration of Klue, please contact me. We’re hoping to begin shopping around for a stateside production company to call home in the fall.

Recently, I was asked to direct a music video for the Brooklyn based rap group, Team Stars. I was very excited to work with them, and to direct a hip-hop video in general. I love music videos, and the group was open to the ideas I was throwing out. It wasn’t going to be a money-making gig, but a fun one none the less. Which is why it’s really upsetting that I had to tell them I would no longer make the video for them.

Why did I quit? Well, because of a hyphen. [ that's the "-" mark, not code for something].

Let me rewind.

Team Stars work with a PR group called TCT Entertainment. They’re legit, because they have a Facebook, you guys. They represent the group and handle their affairs. The group has a manager, but he just takes care of them. They handle getting performances, getting them known, etc. Big mistake.

Through no choice of my own, TCT was tasked with producing and coordinating this production. However, since our initial meeting, they have been continually screwing up small details. Mostly dates and times of meetings and confirming changes in schedules. Once is ok, twice is annoying. Three mistakes is a warning sign.

I was given an address to meet the group for our final confirmation and planning of the video shoot date. I was emailed an address in an area I didn’t know, so I went to Google Maps to look it up. What I get is 5 different options for where to be, none of which were right. I called TCT to guide me, and no one answers. So I pick one and go. I end up on the other end of Queens, NY, opposite of where I needed to be.

I call and call and call TCT. Get someone and they say “we’ll text you someone’s number”. I wait and I wait and I wait. Nothing. Finally, I leave a strongly worded letter on their voicemail, venting my frustrations, and immediately I get a text with a number. I call that number, only to be told I had the right address, but a hyphen needed to be between two number. A HYPHEN! All this hassle over someone not taking two seconds to proofread an email for a HYPHEN!

After that, I was done. How can I trust a company that can’t figure out where to put a hyphen with coordinating a production involving 50 or more people? That sounds nit-picky [see what I did there?], but I was going to ask a group of freelancers to do a freebie for me, and stake my reputation with them that it would be done professionally. TCT wasn’t that. Details matter more to me than anything else, and if you don’t exhibit the skills to handle little details like that, I tend to not waste my time. So I got the number of the group’s manager, apologized for the wasted time and left the project.

More than anything, the part that bums me out is that this was not Team Stars fault. Those guys were nothing but kind and helpful. Their manager was great as well. I wish them all the best. I also wish for them to get rid of that silly company.

Producers, Project Coordinators, Line Producers, people with these jobs make great money because they’re doing a very difficult job. They keep track of details. All of them. You can’t do that, don’t pretend. You’ll make everyone else’s hard work worth nothing.

[NOTE: If you're reading this and think I'm being unprofessional about my quitting on this company for small details being overlooked, please do not consider me for hire.]

Last month, I did some of the DP work for this music video with my friend, Shal Ngo. Shal has a taste for experimental storytelling, and it shows through this narrative. It was also a fun time experimenting with mixing stop motion and live footage together. Most of the production was shot using available light.

If you’re a regular here [you're not], you’ll notice a new section of my site. It’s called a “blog” and it’s a fancy tech way for you to get to know me.

What that really means is that I’ll be posting things that I’m doing here while I’m doing them and afterward. These won’t be just portfolio work. It’ll be experiments, side-projects, demo fluff, so on. I’ll be talking about the projects I’m working on. Might even post a picture or two. Basically, the definition of neat.

Of course, there are other places you can find me. I’m on the Twitter and Tumblr, for those interested in reading more stuff from me in grayscaled layout. I also run a side blog, logit!, where I post things that are inspiring me right now [less grayscale] and stuff I wish I did. And I post videos on Vimeo.

You could also just contact me if you wanted to talk…like a human.
